Paws a While Veterinary Clinic (both Trim and Johnstown (Navan) clinics) is the small animal division of the veterinary practice Pat Farrelly & Partners. Our practice is accredited by the Veterinary Council of Ireland. We strive to provide the best care for your beloved pets. We strongly regard pets as family members and believe they should be treated accordingly. Pets attending either of our clinics are treated with the respect, care and attention they deserve.
Local 24-Hour Emergency Service is offered through our large animal practice, Pat Farrelly & Partners. Please ring either the Trim or Johnstown clinic for contact details. Clients and their pets requiring emergency veterinary treatment will be met at one of the Paws a While clinics by one of our vets.

Vaccinations: help to stimulate your pets immune system to produce disease fighting cells and proteins (antibodies) to protect your pet.
Microchipping: By Law all dogs in Ireland must be microchipped. Microchipping your pet is a way of proving ownership but also helps in re-connecting lost or stray pets with their owners.
Neutering: has great health benefits for your pet, such as reducing the risk of certain types of cancers. Neutering your pet also helps prevent accidental breeding.
Dentals: many pets require routine dental checks and procedures to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
Euthanasia and Cremation: we understand the loss of a pet is a difficult time for all pet owners and we offer our clients a pet cremation service, private individual cremation allows owners to receive their pets ashes back to them in their choice of casket, tribute box or scatter tube. For owners who do not wish to avail of this service there is also the option not to receive their pets ashes back. This is a time of grieving and we will be there to support you.
Diagnostics -- We have a biochemistry blood testing machine which can check for many illnesses, including kidney and liver function. The results are available within 10 minutes. For more complicated blood work we use an external laboratory and usually have results within 5 – 10 days.
We use a microscope to differentiate between certain external parasites on dogs, cats and small mammals like guinea pigs and rabbits. We also use the microscope to examine urine samples for the presence of crystals.
Gas Anesthesia -- We use a gas anaesthetic machine similar to the one used in hospitals, for all major surgeries including bitch spays. This is the preferred method of anesthesia as it can be closely controlled and monitored by the nurse.
Digital X-ray -- The advantages of a digital x-ray are speed and exceptional clarity and diagnostic quality of the images.
Ultrasound -- An ultrasound scanner is available for pregnancy scans, etc.
